When
you’re in the market for a new bike, one of the most important things to
consider is safety. Adrian Marples, vice president of sales and marketing at
Raleigh Canada, says you should first figure out what you’re going to use the
bike for – whether it’s leisurely bike rides, off or on road biking – then find
a bike that fits you properly, both in comfort and lifestyle.
When
it comes to safety, it’s the law in Ontario to bike while wearing a helmet. But
it’s not enough to just purchase a helmet and take off on your bike. Marples
says picking a helmet is all about fit. You want “to make sure that it covers
your forehead and you also have to buy what they call a certified helmet to
make sure that it passes the standards…” he says. “Also that it’s very well
ventilated and lightweight and you’re comfortable with it.”
Raleigh
Canada is an ISO certified factory and builds everything by CPSC (Consumer
Product Safety Commission) standards. “That means everything that we do in our
process is a guarantee that you’re going to get a quality product,” says
Marples.
When
picking the right bike for your child, Adrian recommends going for fit and
comfort, though he adds that the child will always go for colour.
