Cardinal Golf Club’s director of golf, Rob Brandon, has been playing golf since the tender age of 10. Drawn to the independence of the sport, Brandon was encouraged by his father and grandfather who were both avid golfers.

In high school, Brandon started working at Cardinal during the summer, washing the golf carts. At the time, he didn’t even know there was something called a golf professional, other than the caddies on T.V., but his education at Brock University in sports management made him the ideal candidate for his current role.

When Brandon first became director of golf at Cardinal Golf Club, it wasn’t necessary for him to be a golf professional. But in 2002, he put in the time needed to complete the required seminar and teaching hours and played in the qualifying tournament that placed him in the top 30 per cent of scoring and earned him the title of golf pro.

Today, Brandon oversees all of the golf operations at Cardinal Golf Club – from the starters and Marshalls to the pro shop staff and back staff, as well as the driving range, mini putt and the golf academy.
